MUSIC is LIFE: Jazzie doesn't Disappoint

So I know I'm a few days late, I have been so busy lately, so I'm just getting around to really listening to JAZMINE SULLIVAN'S new album, Fearless.

Her voice is so unique and my friends and I have been listening to her for a while now. I was introduced to her by Concreteloop.com a while back when her version of Beyonce's gut-wrenching Resentment (Jazzie's was first). Back then I just knew her as Jazzie, and was only hoping she'd step out and do her thing. Needless to say, she has not disappointed me. Not only has she stepped out and made her voice heard, she teamed up with Missy fir her first single and is killing the airwaves.

The new album Fearless is a mix of sounds that are careful not to clash with one another but create a boiling pot of music that defines who this creative, and original artist is. Compared to old souls like Aretha and others like the missing in action Lauryn Hill, Jazmine carves out her own spot on the music scene.

I already have a few favs of course, but I really feel this is one of those album that you can let play all the way through. I love "After the Hurricane," "In Love with Another Man," and "Best of Me" (bonus track).

It's only 7.99 on iTunes right now, and I think it's truly worth it. Support this girl, she is dope!

I Just Thought This Was Cute.....

KATE MOSS rocks her own "Heart Cardigan" from her TOPSHOP clothing line. I love the simplicity of it. but she adds her own Kate touch to it and really styles it out.

If you know me, you know I'm a cardigan fanatic, and this is really cute! Unfortunately it's sold out, as most things from her line are. It comes in this gray color she's wearing and a navy blue color also. I'm diggin' the gray.

The Hotness: Smellin' good in the Neighborhood!

I am very picky when it comes to fragrances. They can oftentimes be too strong, or they just don't smell right. So when I find one I truly like, I am excited! I've only come across a selected few that really turn my nose on and I have them pictured here. Of course we all have different noses, and different taste when it comes to smells, but these are my favs. They are as follows (clockwise):

1. Bright Crsytal by Versace: A sweet but subtle smell. It was a gift and surprisingly I loved it!

2. Simply by Clinique: I smelled this is a magazine about 5 or 6 years ago and fell in love! It's definitely among my top 3 fav scents, if not my overall fav. It's light and smells so great, I can't even describe it! But I highly recommend it!

3. Unforgivable Woman by Sean John: I love this scent. It's very different from anything else I own, and they got me walking through the dept. store. It caught my nose and that was it. It has a masculine edge to it, but still a very feminine scent.

4. Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs: I love the smell of Jasmine and if you do too, you'll love this fragrance. It's like they squeezed the plant for it's juice and bottled it up. I will say use it sparingly because it can be overpowering.

5. Versus: A Time for Pleasure by Gianni Versace: This fragrance is one of three of a set, but this is by far my fav of them. A Time for Pleasure is appropriately named, as it is very sweet and inviting. I bought mine at an outlet years ago and I still have it!

6. Juicy Couture by Juicy Couture: I also first smelled this in a magazine and was immediately sold. I received the set for my birthday this year which included the lotion and I love it. I can use the lotion and not even have to worry about using the perfume, as it is more than enough on it's own.

7. DKNY: Be Delicious by Donna Karan: Last but not least is a fragrance I honestly have not gotten around to purchasing, but I did receive a sample size bottle and I will say that it is definitely going to be my next purchase. I use that little sample at least once a week. This also comes from a set, and there's a red apple and a green apple. I like the green, which is pictured above.

Most if no all of these are available at Sephora.com

Bag Lady: Rihanna's Givenchy Nightingale

RIHANNA is always rocking the flyest and latest bags, so it's no surprise that she has this amazing bag on her arm....yes the one I've been eying for a min. now.

The Givenchy Nightingale bag is right up my alley, as it is huge and I can carry my life around in it!

Trend Alert: Knuckle Rings!!!

Both RIHANNA and SOLANGE have been spotted rocking these huge knuckle rings while out and about and performing. RIHANNA wears a diamond-encrusted one that says "BAD" and SOLANGE wears hot pink four finger rings on each hand. I believe one says "HOOD" and the other says "LOVE." I'm sure about the love, but not the "hood."

I'm sure this is not the last of the trend we'll see. We've seen the rings resurfacing for a while now, but this over sized one looks like it is going to become very popular.

Even Lauren Conrad of "The Hills" has been spotted n a 2 finger ring, though not as huge. I personally like the dainty one Lauren wears on the show. You can get one of your own over at JewelryByNet.com.

Motion Picture Magic: Miracle at St. Anna

This move is amazing! I just have to say that the artistry and integrity behind the film is outstanding. I was lucky to attend a screening of the film last night and to meet the actors and Mr. Spike Lee himself. The "core four" are four amazing actors who portray Buffalo Soldiers in 1944's World War. The movie is engaging from the beginning and has both happy and sad moments, but is definitely a must-see. Derek Luke, Michael Ealy, Laz Alonzo, and Omar Benson Miller do a fantastic job of bringing the characters in James McBride's book to life. A very political film, Miracle at St. Anna is something everyone needs to go out and see. Spike voiced last night that people need to know that African Americans and Latinos have been dying for this country since day one. I highly recommend this film. Go support!

Bag Lady: Who's Got What

Here are few of the hottest bags out right now on some of the hottest ladies. I am loving these bags personally and will do whatever is necessary to get my hands on @ least ONE!!! I have the one Kim is rocking, but I need that Babouska in my life! lol Check it out!

RIHANNA rocks the GUCCI Babouska Large Shoulder bag.

I love the tassel detail, and of course Gucci's signature champagne gold hardware!

CIARA also shows her love for the GUCCI Babouska collection in this Medium Boston Bag.

I love how she dresses it down, the signature bags are already so busy on their own.

TINY, former XSCAPE member and T.I.'s bottom chick rocks all of the latest designer bags. That's one thing I've always noticed about this chick.

Here she is carrying the Louis Vuitton Suhali Lockit MM in gold. Hers is special ediction, but it also comes in other colors (such as the white and brown pictured here).

And of course, Kobe's wife VANESSA BRYANT stays with the hottest pieces from the top designers. Here she is pictured with the ever so popular Babouska bag.

She is rocking the clutch from the collection, which also comes in blue and red.

Last but not least is KIM KARDASHIAN with he GUCCI Horsebit hobo. This bag is a classic from Gucci. Very timeless.

This particular color is not sold in stores any longer, however chocolate, signature canvas and the Guccisima versions are still available and are in the "classic" category. This means they're staples for the line and probably won't go anywhere anytime soon.

Absolutely Fabulous!

I thought this was hot; a real supermodel and one in the making.

HENNESSY Concert Series featuring NEYO

I recently went to the HENNESSY concert series to interview NEYO for Rap-Up magazine. It was a fun time, and I got to see him and LL Cool J perform. Check out the details and my article over at RAP-UP.COM. He's a great guy with a phenomenal personality. His album is in stores now!

Motion Picture Magic: "The Express"

Ok, I am HIGHLY recommending this movie to everyone! I got to see it on a sneak screening last night and it was absolutely amazing. It has the same spirit as Remember the Titans, but in my opinion is so much better --- and I LOVE that movie! So that's big coming from me. Definitely a tear-jerker, but so worth the tears! ROB BROWN, a very underestimated actor, portrays ERNIE DAVIS, the first African American to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy Award.

Brown first caught my attention opposite Sean Connery in Finding Forrester, as a teen writing prodigy, and then in Coach Carter. He is so talented and this movie only left me wanting more form the young actor. The 24 year old is no stranger tot he game, as he played on his own colleges' football team, Amherst University. I am excited to see what he will be cast in next after this extraordinary display of talent. Dennis Quaid also does an amazing job as Davis' coach in the film

I don't want to give too much away about the movie but what I will say is that I am shocked the story hasn't been told before. However, I am glad that writer Charles Leavitt and Robert Gallagher and director Gary Fleder finally made it happen! This is definitely a must-see!

IN THEATRES OCTOBER 10TH PLEASE GO SEE IT!

My Picks for Fall!! [Fun with Polyvore]

I was playing around on one of me fav sites ever, POLYVORE.COM, and I put together some looks I think are going to be fab for Fall. Nothing too serious, very simple looks, as I am a very simple girl. I love to keep the accessories balanced, but I believe they're always necessary. Check it out. You can click the link for specifics on what's what and where to get it.

For the Workplace, more of a preppy look. Love the blazer (Forever 21! Can you believe it) and the mustard Gucci Hysteria bag is to die for! And the YSL shoe is hot! I love the platform part of it! The different textures of the bag and shoe reall kick the look up a notch.

Next, more for the weekend or a night out on the town, I love this rocker-chic look. I am absolutely in love with these shoes! They are by Paule KA and the blue heel is what I decided to create the look around. I love extra long tees and tanks so I had to go with this A&F one and the jacket was previously featured in my Fab Find post. Again, I am big on accessories, but instead of a stacked look, I thought chunky would work better with this.

Now I'm not a big fan of "matchy matchy," but I love the Gucci Babouska line and wanted to throw something together that picked up on the metals used in the collection. I love the flat boot, but I know we all also love a heel, so I thought the bootie was most appropriate for this look. A basic black skinny jean, and how can you go wring with a classic Chanel bag? Oh and the DVB sunglasses don't hurt either.

I thought this combination was rather different, as one wouldn't expect this dress to be paired with this shoe, but I think it works. I love the frayed looks this season and I'm sure we'll be seeing more of it soon. The metallic dress is toned down by the black book and pea coat, but the black pearl jewelry is sure to make a statement. I love that most likely with the jacket on, you have no idea that this beautiful dress is underneath.

Last but not least, I had to complete a look that uses one of my fav pieces: the black combat-ish boot. I love this look and I first began to notice it when Lindsay Lohan started to wear her worn out vintage ones (I mean that in a good way, lol) and it soon caught on and people like Cassie began to rock them (see the sideshow on the right). The Miu Miu boots are paired with black tights, a simple graphic tee which could be anything, and a motorcycle jacket. This is the statement piece, along with the boots. I love these weaved stacked bracelets and the hat is thrown in there for good fun, but I could so see it working.

Well those are a few samples of what I like for fall, and will be trying to duplicate myself all season. Let me know what you think!

Notice Anything Familiar?

New photos of BEYONCE recently surfaced where the singer was rocking more of a high-fashion couture look and I couldn't help but notice the extreme similarity to the YSL Campaign that NAOMI CAMPBELL shot earlier in the year. The whole vibe of the shoot seems very similar, so much that some of the poses and garments almost seem identical.

Here are the shots I thought resembled one another the most:

Shot #1: Genie pants, l/s white blouse, same stance.

Shot #2: Same style of jacket, pant, and shoe and pose...basically identical.

Shot #3: This is a little different from the previous two. Not so blatant, but the swagger and the positioning of the pose is pretty much the same. B's just sitting, while Naomi is doing more of a lean.

Both ladies look amazing, as they're undoubtedly two of my fav "friends in my head!" lol Love it!
