Italian Vogue Does a Black Barbie Issue

Take a look at the special Summer issue of Italian VOGUE featuring black Barbie's. I think this is a very cute spin on things, as it is still highlighting the contribution of African Americans to the fashion world, even from Barbie's.

Editor in Chief Franca Sozzani had this to day about the issue:

Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate [this] issue to Black Barbie."

In other Barbie news, in celebration of Rocawear's 10th Anniversary, Mattel will release a Rocawear Barbie collection featuring four females and one male. All will be dipped in RW thereads from head to toe. This should be interesting.

Remember Kimora's Barbie? I loved it! So I want to see what these will look like....

NAS covers The Source [In Sir Alistair Rai]

Rapper NAS covers The Source magazine's 2o year anniversary issue. He is wearing a scarf that I featured back in November. It comes from the line Sir Alistair Rai, a company that was formerly represented by the PR firm I used to work at.

I actually have this exact scarf and I love it. It's hard to wear because it is so big, and even though you can't see how big it is, believe me, it's huge! It features a Hindi prayer and is the "Kismet Wrap" and retails for around $200.00

It was also spotted on Lindsay Lohan in the same color last year.

The issue hits stands soon and I'm sure it'll be one you don't want to miss.

Cover Me Badd: Women Rock it Out!

Some of the magazines this month have beautiful and talented women gracing thier September Issues.

Beautiful, educated, and potential first lady MICHELLE OBAMA covers Ebony magazine.

KERI HILSON covers the "Black Girls Rule" Edition of Trace Magazine, wearing a very cute blue dress and belt.

CASSIE covers Complex Magazine and I went with the less provocative cover of the two. The green cover w/banana background wins in my opinion over the dominatrix one.

EBONY is making Summer even hotter with the 25 Coolest Brothers

The August Issue of EBONY magazine will be one that's hard to forget. They will feature 25 of the "Coolest Brothers" on various covers, to pay tribute to them. The include but aren't limited to: DENZEL WASHINGTON, MARVIN GAYE, SAMUEL L. JACKSON, PRINCE, BARACK OBAMA, JAY-Z, AND BILLY D. WILLIAMS.

I am excited to see it hit stands, and of course we are subscribers in my household, so I'm anxious to know which cover we'll be receiving *fingers crossed for BARACK or DENZEL* This is definitely a big deal, and I love to see positive black brothers!

42....Honestly?!

My favorite character from any teen movie ever "Dionne" of Clueless looks exactly like she did back when the movie was first released in 1995!STACEY DASH is absolutely gorgeous and she's letting eveyone know it on the cover of the current issue of KING magazine. WoW is all I can say! Can I puhhh--leezz look this good when I'm 32?! Let alone 42?!! Work it out then Ms. Dash!

ALICIA KEYS covers the newest issue of Blender magazine and dishes inside about an apparent "private breakdown." She looks amazing inside so go grab a copy and check it out!

Both of the ladies are gorgeous and fabulous!

2 of my favorite models grace the cover of VOGUE!

NAOMI CAMPBELL & KATE MOSS. I think that these are two of the best models in the industry.....PERIOD! I love them both the same, and I think that the "fierceness" that is Naomi is nothing but pure beauty! Both women are veterans in the industry, but have maintained their careers and continue to outshine the fresh new faces on the scene. CAMPBELL, 37 and MOSS, 34 have both been in the industry for more than 10 years and do not look like they are slowing down anytime soon. Naomi is constantly strutting down someones runway, and Kate is on every other page of your current high fashion magazine! Love them or leave them...they are TRULY fabulous!

COVER ME BADD: February Issues

Here's a look at the upcoming issues of a few Magazine's I read.

First, one of my favorite mags ESSENCE features TYRA BANKS in a double cover feature. One is a head shot (pictured), while the other is more of a body shot. She looks amazing and this is said to be one of the most intimate interviews the supermodel turned millionaire mogul has ever had. Here's a snippet:
"I’d go to work and women would be crying in my arms on the talk show, but then I’d go home and put my key in my door and… nothing: no friends, no husband, no children. I feel so full when I’m at work but so empty when I come home."

The next issue is from InStyle featuring the first pics of HALLE'S baby bump. She is glowing and I love the spread. She looks sincerely happy and I'm happy for her.

This lady is definitely on the comeback, with her new single "Feedback" taking over the airwaves and getting great responses from critics. JANET JACKSON is featured on the cover of the new issue of BILLBOARD magazine. She looks beautiful, playing on her high cheekbones and skinny little waist. Loving it! Go go JANET!

Now there was some discrepancies as to whether this was the actual cover for FHM, it's an out of country issue, but it features RIHANNA with nothing more than the accessory she popularized with her 2007 hit "Unbrella." She looks good, and the spread is even more steamy featuring pics of the songstress with nothing but splashes of water on her....mimicking the 19 year old beauty taking a shower. But you have to purchase the mag to catch all of that action, enjoy!

Last but not least is expectant mommy JENNIFER LOPEZ on the cover of HARPERS BAZAAR wearing a very pretty lemon colored dress. JLo's layout is very exotic and has a jungle theme. It's the Spring fashion issue and having already read it, I must say that it features some amazing pieces from the high end designers we all love: LANVIN, LOUBOUTIN, GUCCI, HERMES, FENDI, BALLY....you get the point! To make a long story short, if you don't already subscribe, I recommend heading to the magazine rack and grabbing one!

COVER ME BADD: Janet Jackson

JANET......MS. JACKSON IF YA NASTY, graced the cover of Hong Kong's PRESTIGE Magazine, her first feature in a while that does not have to do with her weight. She is on the comeback once again, and I personally can't wait. Despite the overall reception, or lack of, to her 20 Y.O. project, I loved it! She loses the long flowing hair for a short bob with bangs, and smokes out her eyes for a more rugged, rock look. She's still got it!

In one of the pictures from the layout, she sports a pair of very sexy LOUBOUTIN boots. They are called the "Avedere patent lace-front boot" and retail for $1250. I love them, only I would have no where to wear them, lol. They are perfect for the theme of the shoot, and they looks good on Ms. JACKSON. "Don't call it a comeback, she's been here for years!"

The Hotness: Robyn & Robin in GQ

Robyn "Rihanna" Fenty and Robin Thicke appear in the upcoming issue of GQ Magazine in a very high fashion photo shoot, with a dominatrix-style theme. The shots are amazing and they both look great in them. The one I like best is the biggest, however you can click on any of them to view a larger version. The photos do accompany interviews with the two, and the wardrobe was pretty basic. The only colors included on the shoot were red/burgundy, black, white and gray. I think the poses are cute, a little humorous and sexy all at the same time. Be sure to pick it up!

Cover Me Badd: Roc-a-Fella Rules....

Jay-Z, whose album is officially #1, covers Rolling Stone for next months issue. He looks very nice, and has the tailored look on lock. Love the scarf, and the color of the suit. The caption "Addicted to the Game" is fitting considering this is his second studio album release since the announcement of his retirement two years ago.

Next is KANYE WEST, who covers GQ Magazines MEN OF THE YEAR issue. We can't see his clothes for once, because this particular shot is very close in on his face. Something that is clearly visible that I've never really noticed before is the scar across his nose that I assume is from his accident years back.

The last cover is not a US one, but an Asian issue of Harper's Bazaar. And though
this woman is not techinically a member of Roc-A-Fella, BEYONCE is an honorable member due to her boyfriend Jay-Z. She looks amazing, and her face still stands out amongst all of those colorful feathers attached to the dress.

Cover Me Badd: December Issues

First up we have none other than the man with the most impeccable swagger around Mr. SHAWN CARTER. He graces the cover of BLENDER Magazine, keeping in line with his "American Gangster" theme. The layout inside features a few shots staged directly out of the movie, and a "mugshot" (which quite honestly favors the real Frank Lucas a lot)!

Next is probably the person that comes in close second as far as swagger goes: LIL WAYNE. He is on the cover of XXL's December issue displaying the artwork that is his body, and his BURBERRY boxers in about 3 different shots. There are about 3 different possible covers but I just picked one. His dreads got long quick!

Speaking of body art, Girfriends' PERSIA WHITE graces the cover of URBAN INK magazine showing off her tribal tatt's in the spread and gives a great interview also. I love her tattoo's they are all filled in! She's brave for that!

On GENLUX Magazine this month is a very, very beautiful MARY J. BLIGE, who is starting the promotion for her next studio album "Growing Pains" due in stores December 18, 2007. So pretty! Love the hair!

These 3 women are very talented and 2/3 of them are my favorite actresses in the business right now. The third is amazing too, but Nia and Sanaa make those movies I can watch a million times! SANAA LATHAN, NIA LONG, & GABRIELLE UNION appear on ESSENCE magazine's December issue looking ever so radiant and beautiful. It makes me proud to be a brown girl! They dish on everything from men, to gossip, to being "in between jobs" as an actress in Hollywood. If you're not a subscriber, go pick it up!
