I Love My.....

VELVET BLAZER!!!

"Is that velvet?!" HaHaHa! If you don't know what movie that is from you should be ashamed! lol. No but it seemed like an appropriate reference for this post on what seems to be the hot new thing in men's suits: the Velvet Blazer. It is a look that took a while to catch on, as I remember TI and Sean Combs wearing them last year but none the less it has.

First up is Samuel L. Jackson, who attended the Fashion Rocks event London rocking an entire velvet suit. I like the look, but I think I'm pretty sure that any other color but black would not have gone over so well. Jackson went with a silver satin collar-less short with no tie.

Both attending the American Gangster movie premiere this weekend are Evan Ross and Common (who is pictured below in "For My Fellas"), who also went with velvet blazers. Common is already genetically blessed, in other words hes highly attractive, butt he suit he placed himself in this weekend took him to a whole other level! Opting to keep it ultra classy he wore a white collared dress shirt and solid black tie. Ross, whom I honestly cannot tell if his blazer is navy or black (but I'm going with navy) went the casual route pairing his blazer with a black v-neck t-shirt, jeans, and Nike tennis shoes. I like the look for Ross, he is a very original dresser, and I really enjoy his style. I know most people don't necessarily "get it", becuase form other reviews I read, I kind of pick that up. But I love his look 9 times out of 10. Originality is fun....being the same as everyone else gets boring FAST! What a cutie!

The final velvet blazer is worn by a woman! Sharon Leal, both of Dreamgirls & Why Did I Get Married? attended a Women's Health event wearing a black velvet blazer over her pink rose colored knee-length dress with flat gold peep-toe sandals. I am sooo not loving the look, but that's not what this is about. She rocked a velvet blazer, creating a completely different, more conservative look as opposed to only wearing the dress. xoxo
