Broadway Magic: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

When I was in New York, I was lucky to get a chance to go see the Broadway production "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" starring TERRANCE HOWARD, ANIKA NONI ROSE, PHYLICIA RASHAD & JAMES EARL JONES. The play was amazing, and though I didn't quite know the story before (the original) it was very entertaining. Howard has a big role but didn't do much, as he was on a crutch most of the time. ROSE & RASHAD really do an amazing job, their passion was very clear and I loved the emotion coming from both of them. The cast covers the newest issue of "UPTOWN" magazine, check it out!

Me No Likey: Dressing in the Dark Are We?

Some of these people looked like they got dressed without the help of a little thing we call lights! I don't post many of these until I get a collection of some outfits that really throw me for a loop, and this week, some people did just that! lol Here we go:

DIDDY'S Mom JANICE COMBS is not the best dresser. I think she can use help in various departments: fashion, beauty, hair, etc. With a son such as Diddy (a fashionista himself), I find it very hard to believe that he does not give her advice. I know she's his mom, but come on....she just doesn't ever really look nice. In this shot in particular, she has on a dress that looks like she is about to lounge around the house. It's extremely too bog and the pose she's striking does not help, at all. Me nooo likey!

Next, MEL B decided to rock her favorite print ever....Cheetah! She even carries her baby around in an animal print, specifically leopard/cheetah, car seat. This look just does not do it for me and the boots look completely out of place. They do not go wit the dress at all, and I would pair them only with jeans or tights, not this.

America's Next Top Model winner JASLENE GONZALES usually hits or misses it. She looks really cute or everything is totally off. Here she pairs a plaid dress that is obviously too big for her tiny body, tights, and a pair of white strappy shoes. Now all of these pieces worn right could be amazing, but together, I just don't dig it...me no Likey!

This N' That: Jay Z & Erykah

I love his Blazer's here! The black, white & gray color is probably the best pair I've seen so far!

Love these Jean Paul Gaultier boots ERYKAH BADU has on here! She and Q-TIP are both amazing and I hope to hear more from them soon! P.S. Erykah's album is in stores now!

The Hotness: Rih Rih's BBC Hoodie

RIHANNA was spotted @ a celebration for Pharrell's birthday over the weekend wearing a creation of the birthday boy himself. I featured this hoodie back in November in a "For My Fellas" post. This particular design, the "Robot Hoodie" was pretty hard to get your hands on, only about 50 were shipped to the US. You know the fashionista herself had to be be one of the few to get her hands on one! Like I said, I originally posted it as a mens item, but she has obviously shown you that it is a unisex item! Loves it!

This N' That: Usher, Solange & Cherish

This is a little section I decided to start where I just throw up a few photos of people wearing specific things I like. Like a pair of shades, shoes, a top or whatever it may be.

USHER'S Shades! Love them, and my cousin Deandre pointed them out to me. I am also "On the Hunt" for them so if you have any info on them, let me know!

SOLANGE'S Jacket/Shirt!! This is so her, and she wears it so well. I love the electric blue pumps and the skinny pant. The top is puffy ans pleated in numerous ways, which makes for a very dramatic Roman inspired look. She has on a huge "CD" belt which I could do without, but everything else is HOT! [Thanks to Concreteloop.com for the pic]

MEMBER OF CHERISH'S Top & tights! One of the member of Cherish had on a pair of sliver tights that I love, and this sequined off the shoulder top.

Congrats......I think?

So, I really don't know what to think. All the speculation and whispers about the possible nuptials between SHAWN "Jay-Z" CARTER & BEYONCE KNOWLES have me confused. I don't know what's going on, but I'm going to go ahead and say congrats to the possibly newlywed couple! I'm sure pics will surface if it is all true, after all, it didn't take long for little sis' Solange's wedding pics to appear.

"Art of Pooh" hosted by Kidada Jones

KIDADA JONES hosted the "Art of Pooh" event this past Friday in Los Angeles @ the Evidence gallery. I was one of the lucky attendees via the company I intern at Red Light PR. It was a pretty cool event and the art was amazing! I had fun and from the looks of things, so did everyone else! Here are a few shots of JONES from the event in her Disney apparel! PS I loved her boots!!

KIDADA showing off her tiny Pooh in a bag....

KIDADA, her mother PEGGY LIPTON, and her sister RASHIDA JONES (cute family)

Fashionable Duos: John Legend & Christine Teigen

I don't think anyone has noticed this couple quite yet, but I have been watching them and their fashion eye is amazing! She always looks fabulous as does Legend. One thing I've noticed in particular is that they are fans of 3 main colors: black white and silver/gray. Although the color selection is pretty narrow the styles and looks they pull off have a much wider range.

The first shot is the most recent of the recent couple's outings and I am in love with CHRISTINE's dress! The slight v @ the chest adds character and the patterned skirt, though it may not photograph particularly well, is adorable! Patent pumps and black clutch complete the look while legend oped for a "blacked out" look. He is sporting one of his favorite styles of tie, the "skinny tie." Along with the tie, LEGEND does a black dress shirt, slacks and shoes. They look absolutely gorgeous here!!

Next, staying in line with the black/white/silver theme, the couple attended the Grammy awards looking very elegant. TEIGEN's draped dress is very beautiful, and I love the color. JOHN decided to go for no tie this time around and I think it worked. She has the perfect figure for this type of material and she worked it! Cute!

JOHN has on the classic black and white suit here, with a loose tie, and CHRISTINE, a white chiffon/iridescent dress that met the middle of her thighs. The clutch thew in some color and the shoes brought some continuity These dresses cannot be worn by everyone, as they do not have much definition, but it looks great on her!

In this last shot, she convinces me that she was made for this style of dress. The dresses with the high waist, tiny skirts and strapless is a must, are soo cute and I love seeing them show up on the red carpet! I think it is two separate peieces,m but she put them together amazingly! Either way, it's a great look. The white pleated top, and satin belted black skirt work well with his white jacket and black tie. The full body shot shows his gray slacks, but it doesn't kill the look, it actually looks pretty good. [Thanks to VIEWIMAGES for these shots!]

We need to start watching them a little closer, they are one "FASHIONABLE DUO" to look out for in the future!

Memories!!!!

This takes me back to the old days! THE BODYGUARD was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time! WHITNEY & KEVIN.....classic!

Look of the Week: Selita Ebanks

This look on SELITA is so refreshing and so springy! I love this style of dress, and I own a few myself, but none as hot as this! I love the gray-ish color and the white tie around the waist contrasts perfectly! As you probably already know I am love w/anything that has a dolman sleeve, and this dress is no different! The pink pumps bring a little more excitement than it would have had she worn a pair of white shoes, I love it, it adds to the "springy" look I thinks he has going. Definitely my pick for "Look of the Week!"

The Hotness: Solange's New Look

Ok, it's not really a "new" look becuase we've seen her rock this curly look before, but I've never really seen her look this gorgeous. I love the accented yellow lips and eyes in this shot. It's from her MySpace page. She also had a new track out called "God Given Name" which is hot, and definitely something much different from her big sis, which she alludes to in the song. Have a listen...I see big things for her in the future, seems like she found her voice.

For My Fellas: Loving Louis Weezy?

Man, if Louis Vuitton depended on one person to provide advertisement, it would be a tie between KIMORA LEE SIMMONS and LIL WAYNE. This weekend at BET's Spring Bling in Florida, Weezy was a walking advertisement for LV. Though it may not seem obvious at first glance, I'll give you the run down of what he's wearing. His "father" Baby also wore a little Louis on his feet.

Beanie....check! This red and brown beanie is in your stores now, and you can get a matching scarf for it too. I did a post on the set in January seen on both Young Jeezy and Jermaine Dupri.

Scarf....check! This scarf uses the same design as the Cruise Collection 08 - Momogram Mini Lin Croisette bags. I'm sure it's available in the stores, but I couldn't find it online.

Damier Canvas Belt.....Check! They average about $500.00 give or take a few.

Charmed Keychain....Check!

Hi-top sneakers.....check
!

There you have it! I think he's trying to beat out the self proclaimed "Louis Vuitton Don" KANYE!

Bag Lady: Lindsay's GUCCI Hysteria!!

LINDSAY LOHAN was out and about and she was rocking the latest "Hotness" from GUCCI. I did a post on this bag back in January and it's starting to hit the scene now. Lindsay is wearing the patent version of the bag, and it also comes in Python, which retails for almost $4,500 dollars. The one Lindsay is wearing is approximately $2,000. I love it, and she wears it well. Her classic tights, a leopard scarf, pirate boots, and a cute hat. It looks much smaller than I thought it to be, but still, it's big enough. It's from the Spring/Summer 2008 collection and is available in stores now.

The Hotness: Closets to Die For!!!

EVA LONGORIA-PARKER'S CLOSET

MARIAH'S SHOE CLOSET

PAULA ABDUL'S CLOSET

KIMORA LEE SIMMONS

I really don't need to put any text here, or any captions because the photos really speak for themselves. Definitely something to aspire to. I think any closet can look this fab with the right organization. That's basically what my closet needs, a lot of organizing!

Style Showdown: Estelle vs. Rihanna

So this dress is not exactly the same, but they are very similar. RIHANNA wore this very, very cute hot pink Betsey Johnson dress at a recent performance and ESTELLE wore a similar one in black @ Paper nightclub. The dress' skirt is the same with this layered look. It reminds me of a blooming flower. I truly can't decide which one looks best. I love both of the dresses, and honestly I think it's a tie. What do you think?

Very True and Important.....

So I'm at a place in my life where I have some pretty huge decisions to make. I know that everything is going to work out, I have absolutely no doubt that it will, but I do have to admit that figuring it all out can get a little stressful at times. But my dad sent me an email, and it was really very relevant to my situation and I wanted to share it with you all, being that it can possibly help you out too!

"The tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach." Benjamin Mays

This quote is so real, and so true! Having a goal is so important and upon the attainment of a goal, a new one needs to already be in place. Having direction is extremely important and if you never reach your goal, I am firm believer that the journey is the most important thing of all. Getting there and the process of doing so is where the satisfaction lies. The puzzle of life has many pieces and it's up to us to figure out where they go and how everything fits together. Good luck!

Having Trouble Pronouncing the Fancy Names?

I know I had trouble with the pronunciation of designers and names of high fashion lines in the beginning of my fashion fixation. However since I immersed myself in the world of fashion I have become much better with the pronunciation of the names. There is a web site I found that is pretty accurate and you can click the audio link to hear the proper pronunciation of the words. Have fun!

Who Wore What: Weekend Hotness

So this weekend, everyone was out and about all over the place! Some looked amazing, and some not so much. But this post is for those who impressed me the most.

First is EVE in this amazing brown and white spaghetti strapped dress. It is very simple but still so cute! It's so cute, I don't even notice those tattoo's o her chest. She has become quite the fashion icon as of late and she rarely disappoints. This dress only adds to her amazing track record. She's wearing the same shoes I featured a few posts ago, which I thought were Louboutin's.

Next is JENNIFER LOPEZ, who looks nothing like a recent bearer of twins, in a draped black Reem Acra dress. The design of this dress is very flattering, and is definitely something I'd buy and wear. I love the way the material is draped in front and gathered at the waist. Very good look for the superstar!

A very tiny MARIAH CAREY was a busy bee this weekend doing press overseas (Europe) for her new album E=MC2. I love this look, becuase it is very simple, but I love an opaque tight and the patent bootie really sets it off. The dress looks like it can double as a shirt if paired with jeans, but leave it to CAREY to sexy up a striped shirt! I love it!

VANESSA WILLIAMS wore this giraffe printed dress with a tan jacket to create a very fashion forward look. I don't know if I'm really feeling the shoes but the dress is hot.

Look of the Week

I think JANET JACKSON looked so cute at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards this weekend! I am a huge fan of these types of dresses and her tiny waist doesn't hurt the look either! She wore the classic black YSL Tribute pumps with he outfit and her hair is amazing! I love the look all around!

I Want That: Sam Edelman Strapped Booties

Since these Sam Edelman shoes were released last year, I was not able to find them anywhere for their original price. Apparently since they are sold out, it makes them an even hotter buy and the prices have more than doubled! They look like the BALENCIAGA (pictured in brown) booties that I posted on back in January. Surprisingly, I actually like Sam's version better, and would much rather prefer those. They were originally $175, but I found them on Ebay for upwards for $400.00. I wish I would have gotten a pair before they sold out! Grrrrr!
